Since the 1’st ICT Day in Nov 2005, the Information and Communication Technology Center (ICTC) has made significant achievements to support the mission of the University and its strategic goals. The achievements can be summarized but not limited as follows:
- Continuing the development of the ICT infrastructure at Al-Quds Open University as follows:
- Extending the internet connection. Each educational center has been connected to the ICTC with 2 Mbps speed, and ICTC has been connected directly to Paltel backbone with high speed of 80 Mbps.
- Extension of EUMED-Connect usage, in cooperation with Birzeit University, Al-Quds University, with support from the Ministry of Telecommunication and Information Technology.
- Establishment of more Computer, Internet and ICT laboratories to become 99, distributed in all QOU educational regions and centers in West Bank, Gaza and Jerusalem.
- Launching the Video Streaming Project to stream QOU’s events and lectures through internet.
- Developing curriculum management system to enable the academic supervisors to open panel discussions with students, and upload educational materials to be available for students through the file management unit.
- Completing the development of Phase “I” of the Academic Portal, where academic supervisors can enter grades. Furthermore, it enables the administrators in the Educational Regions and Study Centers to review students, classes and courses information.
- Developing and commencing the implementation of Phase “II” of the Academic Portal, including the development of online registration, which enables students to register, update and delete courses online at any time from anywhere.
- Launching the Alumni Portal to re-connect the QOU graduates with the University, and launching phase “I” of Managerial Portal project.
- Offering new internationally accredited training and testing services, such as: Oracle Academy, Microsoft IT Academy, Sun Academic Initiative, Certiport Training and Testing Center, Authorized Prometric Testing Center and Authorized ETS TOEFL testing center.
- Adding Palestine to the list of countries in Oracle, Sun, Certiport and ETS companies.
- Conducting training courses for a number of Palestinian universities through RUFO Project in e-learning and educational web design.
- Producing new e-learning courses and uploading them on Avicenna Portal.
