Mr. Walid Batrawi, Walid Batrawi, is currently working as a Country Director in Palestine with BBC Media Action. Before he worked as the Deputy Chief of Party for Internews Network in Palestine and a trainer/coach with the Arab Reporters for Investigative Journalism (ARIJ). From December 2007 thru January 2010 he worked as a Project Director for the BBC World Service Trust (the former name of BBC Media Action). Batrawi has built experience across television, radio, print and online media with organizations based in the Middle East and around the world. He worked as a correspondent for Al-Jazeera English Chanel, as well as a correspondent for BBC Arabic Service Radio. On October 24, 2003 the European Commission and the International Federation of Journalists named him the winner of IFJ’s 2003 Natali Prize for ‘Excellence in reporting Human Rights, Democracy and Development’ in the category of the Arab World, Iran and Israel. He has led many local and regional media training workshops and is a member of the International Press Institute (IPI), the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), Investigative Reporters and Editors (IRE) and the Foreign Press Association (FPA).
