Judge Asad Shunnar

Judge Asad Shunnar , Assistant Secretary-General of the High Judicial Council, holds an MA in Private Law from Cairo University, Egypt. He served as the Head of Monitoring at the Department of National and International Observers at the Central Elections Commission in Palestine during the last presidential and legislative elections, and then worked as a lecturer. He also served as the Head of the Notary Public Department in regular courts. He was granted the first place in the first judicial group at the Palestinian Judicial Institute. He worked as a counselor for the Chief Justice Office, and he was appointed as a Magistrate Judge at Ramallah Court and an Assistant Secretary General for the High Judicial Council. He also served as the Acting Secretary General for HJC during the judicial years 2016, 2017 and 2018, as well as Secretary General at the Transitional High Judicial Council for the year 2019-2020.

Local and international representations:

  • Member in the National Committee on Legal Aid.
  • Member in the National Committee for drafting Combating Torture Act.
  • Member in the National Committee on Fair Trial, supported by EUPOL COPPS.
  • Focal point for EuroMed- Justice Project (international judicial cooperation between the partner countries from the Southern Neighborhood).
